Journal Prompt #44: If you could live anywhere you wanted, where would you live?

Hello! I hope you had a fantastic weekend. Did you do anything fun? I just spent the day at my dad’s house with our family. It was a beautiful and relaxing day and I wish it was still the weekend.

I haven’t been able to do my journal prompts as much as I would like to. Life is hectic and I just haven’t had the time. I am working on it! But for right now, I will just be posting whenever I can. I really want to start doing these weekly, but until things settle down for me, that won’t be possible. So for now, I’ll take what time I can get. So here is my second journal prompt post!

If I could live anywhere I wanted?

This one is super easy for me, though a lot of people will think I’ve lost my mind. If I could live anywhere, I would live somewhere in the middle of a forest with no one around us and plenty of space.

Ever since I was little, my favorite place to be was somewhere up north in the woods. I love nature and being in the middle of nowhere is so peaceful and calming. I really feel most like myself when the rest of the world goes away.

So I would build a nice cabin in the woods. Not too big but big enough for our family of 5 to be comfortable and each have our own space. The only not-so-middle-of-nowhere-ish stipulation I would have is the need for cable and internet. (My kids would hate not having internet!) And we would be as self-sustainable as possible so I wouldn’t have to work much and I could spend some quality time with my kids.

Surrounding the cabin would be a ton of land

I would have space for a garden so we could grow as much of our food as possible. I grew up with my grandfather always having a huge garden. There was never a shortage of fresh vegetables in the summer in my grandparent’s kitchen. My favorite was always the cucumbers. There was no better lunch than a peanut butter cucumber sandwich. (I know a lot of people who have told me that’s weird. Trust me. Toast some bread, spread it with peanut butter and slice the cucumber thickly and lengthwise, and put it between the bread. I promise it’s delicious.)

My garden would have cucumbers, bell peppers, carrots, green beans (fresh green beans are SO good!), peas, and any other veggies my kids want to plant. Also, all of the berries I could plant. Most definitely strawberries and blackberries. I would use as much as I could with all of it in the summer, and learn how to can and/or save them for the winter too.

And some animals

Not only do I want a garden, but I also would love to have some animals! Aside from our 2 dogs and 4 ferrets, I want a couple of farm animals.

I would love to raise chickens because my family eats a lot of eggs and I think it would be amazing to be able to get my own eggs rather than have to keep buying them all of the time.

I also really love goats… Goats are adorable and I would love to raise some of them too. Plus, with goats, you don’t really need to worry about a lawnmower right!?

Hopefully one day I will get my home in the middle of nowhere. Until then, I’ll be here. Which is also a perfectly fine place to be. Maybe I’ll just have a middle-of-nowhere place to go on vacations at least. Some of my greatest memories as a kid were made at my grandpa’s vacation cabin in the woods. I would love to be able to have a place just like his one day. (preferably however with working plumbing)

If you could live anywhere you wanted, where would you go? I would love to hear your thoughts on this!
